Dancing Between the Lines

In this workshop we will look at the intersection between body movement and drawing lines. We will create a short piece during the workshop based on a number of exercises. You will gain awareness of your body and the lines we create through movement. Optionally, bring along a drawing you made yourself, or one of your favorite visual art pieces as we will be working on translating visual images to a dance choreography. No previous experience with dance or drawing is required, although expertise in visual arts or body work is also welcome.

Please wear comfortable clothes for this workshop, as we will be moving.

ABOUT AHMAD SHAABAN>> Ahmad is a dancer, choreographer, yoga teacher who was born in Syria and currently living in Rotterdam. Ahmad studied dance at the Higher Institute for Drama and Arts in Damascus, Syria. He worked for 10 years Enana Dance Theater (Damascus) and Caracalla Dance Theater (Beirut). Since 2018 he is also a professional yoga teacher. His graduation choreography was based on the relationship between pictures and movement, translating an image into a dance.

في هذه الورشة سنلقي نظرة على تقاطع حركة الجسم وخطوط الرسم. سنقوم بإنشاء قطعة قصيرة خلال ورشة العمل بناءً على عدد من التمارين. ستكتسب وعيًا بجسمك والخطوط التي نخلقها من خلال الحركة. اختياريًا، أحضر معك رسمًا قمت به بنفسك، أو أحد القطع الفنية المرئية المفضلة لديك حيث سنعمل على ترجمة الصور المرئية إلى تصميم رقصة. لا يلزم وجود خبرة سابقة في الرقص أو الرسم، ولكننا نرحب بالخبرة في الفنون المرئية أو أعمال الجسد.

عن أحمد شعبان >> أحمد راقص ومصمم رقص ومعلم يوغا ولد في سوريا ويعيش حاليًا في روتردام. درس أحمد الرقص في المعهد العالي للدراما والفنون بدمشق، سوريا. عمل لمدة 10 سنوات بمسرح إينانا للرقص (دمشق) و مسرح كركلا للرقص (بيروت). هو أيضًا مدرس يوغا محترف منذ عام 2018. استند تصميم رقصات تخرجه على العلاقة بين الصور والحركة، وترجمة الصورة إلى رقصة.
