Play Date 3: Grant and Funding Applications Workshop

This workshop will introduce how to write grant and funding applications for official, governmental funding bodies and explore funding resources and alternative funding opportunities. In this workshop we will look at strategies for choosing the right funding sources, explore what local and national funds are available, and work on outlining project goals. We will also explore what to do with your project if you don't receive funding and other non-governmental funding/support options.

We will learn about how to time the preparation and start of your project so that it corresponds with different grant deadlines and decision making timelines. We will work on strategies for preparing a concise and coherent project statement and artist statement; developing a budget for the project and understanding the language of the budget; and how to structure the application so that it aligns with your own goals and the goals/criteria of the fund.
Prior to starting the workshop, it will be useful to have in mind what kind of project you want to initiate so that you can gain more insight into whether you want to get artist development funding or project funding and what contextually specific grants are available.

Margarita is a researcher and cultural organizer who also gives workshops on grant and fond applications to artists and cultural organizations. She holds an MA in Media Studies from UvA and and an MA in English Literature from the University of Toronto. Margarita is part of the team of The Hmm, a platform for contemporary visual culture, and is the art editor for Versal, an art and literature journal based out of Amsterdam. She has curated the context program for TodaysArt and exhibitions for Bits of Freedom, Hackers & Designers, the W139, and Mediamatic, amongst others. She curated the HOW WOW NOW program for Salwa Foundation themed "From All Sides".

ستقدم ورشة العمل هذه كيفية كتابة طلبات المنح والتمويل لهيئات التمويل الرسمية والحكومية و استكشاف موارد التمويل وفرص التمويل البديلة. في ورشة العمل هذه، سننظر في استراتيجيات اختيار مصادر التمويل المناسبة، واستكشاف الأموال المحلية والوطنية المتاحة، والعمل على تحديد أهداف المشروع. سنكتشف أيضًا ما يمكن فعله بمشروعك إذا لم تتلقَ تمويلًا وخيارات التمويل او الدعم غير الحكومية الأخرى.

سنتعرف على كيفية تحديد وقت التحضير لمشروعك والبدء فيه بحيث يتوافق مع المواعيد النهائية المختلفة للمنح والجداول الزمنية لاتخاذ القرار. سنعمل على استراتيجيات لإعداد بيان موجز ومتماسك للمشروع وبيان فني؛ تطوير ميزانية للمشروع وفهم لغة الميزانية؛ وكيفية هيكلة التطبيق بحيث يتماشى مع أهدافك الخاصة وأهداف او معايير الصندوق.

قبل بدء ورشة العمل، سيكون من المفيد أن تضع في اعتبارك نوع المشروع الذي ترغب في البدء فيه حتى تتمكن من اكتساب المزيد من الأفكار حول ما إذا كنت ترغب في الحصول على تمويل لتطوير الفنان أو تمويل المشروع وما هي المنح الخاصة المتاحة بهذا السياق.

مارغريتا باحثة ومنظّمة ثقافية تقدم أيضًا ورش عمل حول طلبات المنح والتطبيقات الممنوحة للفنانين والمنظمات الثقافية. وهي حاصلة على ماجستير في الدراسات الإعلامية من UvA وماجستير في الأدب الإنجليزي من جامعة تورنتو. مارغريتا هي جزء من فريق "ذا هممم"، وهي منصة للثقافة المرئية المعاصرة، وهي محررة الفن في "فيرسال"، وهي مجلة للفنون والأدب مقرها أمستردام. اختارت البرنامج السياقي لـ تودايز ارت والمعارض لـ بتز فور فريدم و هكرز اند ديزاينرز و W139 و ميدياماتيك، من بين آخرين. قامت بتنسيق برنامج "هاو واو ناو" لمؤسسة سلوى بعنوان "من كل الجوانب".
