Blood of a Pomegranate

Blood of a Pomegranate is the sonic art project of the Netherlands based Armenian musician Tigran Harutyunyan. The project uses sound and performance to explore themes of imperialism, genocide, war, and the social structures that stand between humanity today and it’s future self liberation. The result is a sound that juxtaposes sub bass drones, harsh digital noise, sung or screamed vocals expressed through the Armenian language, traditional Armenian liturgical chanting and medieval folk music.

Blood of a Pomegranate is an attempt at communicating the sound of the space between us.

دم الرمان هو مشروع فني صوتي للموسيقي الأرمني المقيم في هولندا تيغران هاروتيونيان. يستخدم المشروع الصوت والأداء لاستكشاف موضوعات الإمبريالية والإبادة الجماعية والحرب والهياكل الاجتماعية التي تقف بين الإنسانية اليوم وتحريرها الذاتي في المستقبل. والنتيجة هي صوت يجمع بين طائرات بدون طيار، وضوضاء رقمية قاسية، وغناء أو صراخ يتم التعبير عنه من خلال اللغة الأرمنية، وترديد الطقوس الأرمنية التقليدية والموسيقى الشعبية في العصور الوسطى.
