Open Call: Communications Intern

SALWA is a platform that aims to diversify the cultural landscape by amplifying the many urgent and passionate voices of artists and makers who are new to the Netherlands. Prioritizing artists with migrant backgrounds, SALWA provides them with guidance, resources, and support so that they can sustain their creative practices and independently hone their craft and their style. For this new year, we are looking for a communication intern to help us out on our new journey. The ideal candidate will have a strong affinity with the lived experience of migrant and queer communities and a deep love for supporting the development of artists finding their voice and their path. The role with entail community building that is both online and offline, hence oral and written communication skills are needed.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for students or fresh graduates with a media/communications/art education who are excited about working in a diverse and inclusive environment for at least 3 months, for 2 days a week (one day online, one day at the office), for which we can offer a small fee. It is important that you are familiar with adobe programs and different communication management tools (Instagram, LinkedIn, MailChimp…) and website editing. We speak both English, Arabic and Dutch within our diverse team, with the artists and collaboration partners.

Tasks
Your typical day will consist of mapping out and managing key deliverables for social media. You might start the morning by reviewing and updating project timelines or attending creative sessions with the Executive Director and Creative Director to set up project briefs. During lunch we walk, talk, gossip and eat together. You will also be responsible over setting deadlines for the communication team. We are a small team and we do not work in a hierarchal structure, so sometimes our roles are hard to explicitly define as we all do a bit of everything. Within your internship period, you will collaborate on the communication aspects of exhibitions and events. Your tasks are diverse: from writing texts to creating content for our social media channels and maintaining contact with external partners. Furthermore, you will partly perform light administrative tasks such as hospitality and mediation, and general contact by phone or e-mail.

Prior to your internship, we can agree on a personal plan for the internship period, taking into account personal interests and conditions set by your study program. Your working hours will largely be determined by mutual agreement according to your availability and our programs. You may sometimes have to work evenings or weekends.

SALWA always prioritizes applicants with a migrant background who are non-EU, but applicants that might not fit those criteria who still have an affinity towards different lived experiences are welcome to apply.

سلوى هي منصة تهدف إلى تنويع المشهد الثقافي من خلال تسليط الضوء على العديد من الأصوات المثابرة والمؤثرة للفنانين والصناع الجدد في هولندا. عن طريق إعطاء الأولوية للفنانين ذوي الخلفيات المهاجرة، تزودهم سلوى بالتوجيه والموارد والدعم حتى يتمكنوا من الحفاظ على ممارساتهم الإبداعية وصقل حرفتهم وأسلوبهم بشكل مستقل.
"سلوى" في اللغة العربية تعني العزاء بالنفس والراحة - ما يجلب السعادة و الاعتزاز. كما إنه يشير إلى شيء يخفف من حزنك وقلقك. وهو الإلهام الذي يحرك مجتمع سلوى. في هذا العام الجديد ، نبحث عن متدرب متخصص في التواصل لمساعدتنا في رحلتنا الجديدة. سيكون لدى المرشح المثالي تقارب قوي مع التجربة الحية لمجتمعات المهاجرين و مجتمع الميم-عين وحب عميق لدعم تطوير الفنانين الذين يجدون صوتهم. بالتالي هناك حاجة إلى مهارات الاتصال الشفوي والكتابي.

عن من نبحث؟
نحن نبحث عن الطلاب أو الخريجين الجدد الحاصلين على تعليم إعلامي / اتصالات / فني متحمسون للعمل في بيئة متنوعة وشاملة لمدة ٤ أشهر على الأقل ، لمدة يومين في الأسبوع (يوم واحد عبر الإنترنت ، ويوم واحد في المكتب) ، يمكننا تقديم راتب رمزية مقابلها. من المهم أن تكون على دراية ببرامج Adobe وأدوات إدارة الاتصالات المختلفة (Instagram و LinkedIn و MailChimp ...) وتحرير مواقع الويب. نتحدث لغة الإنجليزية ,العربية والهولندية ضمن فريقنا المتنوع ، كذلك مع الفنانين وشركاء التعاون.

واجبات
سيتألف يومك المعتاد من تخطيط وإدارة المخرجات الرئيسية لوسائل التواصل الاجتماعي. يمكنك أن تبدأ الصباح بمراجعة وتحديث الجداول الزمنية للمشروع أو حضور الجلسات الإبداعية مع المدير التنفيذي والمدير الإبداعي لإعداد ملخصات المشروع. أثناء الغداء نسير ونتحدث ونثرثر ونأكل معًا. ستكون مسؤولاً أيضًا عن تحديد المواعيد النهائية لفريق الاتصال. نحن فريق صغير ولا نعمل في هيكل هرمي ، لذلك في بعض الأحيان يصعب تحديد أدوارنا بشكل صريح لأننا جميعًا نفعل القليل من كل شيء. خلال فترة التدريب الخاصة بك ، سوف تتعاون في جوانب الاتصال للمعارض والأحداث. مهامك متنوعة: من كتابة النصوص إلى إنشاء محتوى لقنوات التواصل الاجتماعي الخاصة بنا والحفاظ على التواصل مع الشركاء الخارجيين. علاوة على ذلك ، ستقوم جزئيًا بأداء مهام إدارية خفيفة مثل الضيافة والوساطة والاتصال العام عبر الهاتف أو البريد الإلكتروني.

قبل تدريبك ، يمكننا الاتفاق على خطة شخصية لفترة التدريب ، مع مراعاة الاهتمامات الشخصية والشروط التي يحددها برنامج الدراسة الخاص بك. سيتم تحديد ساعات العمل الخاصة بك بالاتفاق المتبادل وفقًا لتوافرك وبرامجنا. قد تضطر أحيانًا إلى العمل في المساء أو في عطلات نهاية الأسبوع.

تمنح سلوى دائمًا الأولوية للطلاب من أصول مهاجرة من خارج الاتحاد الأوروبي ، ولكن المتقدمين الذين قد لا يتناسبون مع تلك المعايير الذين لا يزالون على صلة بتجارب معيشية مختلفة مرحب بهم للتقدم.
