Finding your tone of voice - Artists bio workshop

We are excited to announce a new collaboration between This Works x SALWA for our workshop programs. This Works is a club for and by artists, in which the exchange of knowledge and experience is central. Club members participate without restriction in a continuous program of about 40 masterclasses, network drinks, workshops, panel discussions and collection visits per year. This Works is for motivated professional artists who aspire to live from their work. Participants range from recently graduated emerging makers, newcomers in the Netherlands, self-taught enthusiasts and seasoned hands in the field, including all ambitious artists in between. This Works currently has about 130 participating artists in the community

For €15 per session, you can join their Masterclasses. Or for €120 ex VAT you can subscribe for a whole year. This also includes access to our joint 12-week Future Framing intense coaching program with Shailoh Phillips and Riad Salameh starting again in September 2022.

Workshop: Finding your tone of voice

How do you stand out among the wide range of artists? How do you ensure that you are visible and findable, both online and offline? What kind of artist are you and how do you best describe what you do? How do you communicate this and through which channels? Shailoh Phillips and Riad Salemeh guides you in your search for your tone of voice.

Shailoh (US) is an artist, activist, researcher, teacher, hacker and organizer. She teaches in the Contextual Design Department at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. Shailoh is also co-founder of the Salwa Foundation, a platform in Amsterdam that aims to diversify the cultural landscape by giving a voice to artists and makers new to the Netherlands.

Riad Salameh (1995) is the director of Salwa foundation since February 2022. He is a Lebanese researcher and art practitioner with a graphic design, art mediation and media arts cultures background. His work often follows a praxis method that uses microtransformations as to respond to the urgency of collective socio-economic transformations.

شيلوه (الولايات المتحدة) فنان وناشط وباحث ومعلم وهاكر ومنظم. تدرس في قسم التصميم السياقي في أكاديمية التصميم في أيندهوفن. شيلوه هو أيضًا مؤسس مشارك لمؤسسة سلوى ، وهي منصة في أمستردام تهدف إلى تنويع المشهد الثقافي من خلال إعطاء صوت للفنانين والصناع الجدد في هولندا.
